Heritage Open Days is England's largest festival of history and culture. Every year in September, places across the country throw open their doors to celebrate their heritage, community and history. It’s your chance to see hidden places and try out new experiences – and it’s all FREE.

In 2020 there will be fewer events than in previous years and o​​​​​nline events will be offered for the first time.

Friday 11 - Sunday 20 September (closed Mondays & Tuesdays)

Green's Windmill and Science Centre | 10am - 3pm

A special exhibition about the history of the mill and famous mathematician George Green, using excerpts from its extensive archive.

Friday 11 September

The Story of Boots - Online Talk | 10.30am 
An online talk by Chris Weir telling the remarkable story of how Boots the Chemists became a household name.

Saturday 12 September

Nottingham Canal at Castle Wharf - Virtual Tour | 10.30 am
Join Gold Star Guide, Felicity Whittle on a tour of discovery as you learn about the iconic buildings, boats and hostelries in this historic part of a modern city.

Debbie Bryan: Heritage Exhibition & Archive Showcase | 10am-5pm
Adorned with textile nostalgia and authentic industrial fixtures and fixings from Nottingham's Lace Industry, Debbie Bryan will have historical points of interest on display throughout the gallery and tearoom, as well as a digital exhibition. 

Sunday 13 September
