Following a record-breaking year of nominations and a highly successful awards ceremony last year, Visit Nottinghamshire, the official tourism body for the city and county, is gearing up for an even bigger and better Nottinghamshire Hospitality STARS Awards ceremony in 2019.

There’s no escaping the fact that Nottingham’s escape room scene is absolutely thriving. Nottingham’s appetite is so great that even Pieminister – famed, of course, for their scrumptious pies and tongue-in-cheek wordplay – want a slice of the action. 'The Demon Barber’ is an inspiered a Sweeney Todd themed escapology experience that Visit Nottinghamshire simply had to try out.

Over 150 attendees from across the region’s tourism sector will hear insights from some of the UK’s leading tourism professionals and updates from Nottinghamshire’s key tourist attractions. The Summit will be held at Nottingham Lakeside Arts in a nod to the organisation’s history; this is the venue where Visit Nottinghamshire (previously Experience Nottinghamshire) was launched 15 years ago. 

Most of us have heard about the Mayflower and its epic journey to the New World which took place in 1620, but not as many can say exactly what the Mayflower Pilgrims’ connection to Nottinghamshire is and how it all began.

As part of this year’s English Tourism Week we’d like to bring the history to life and help you walk in the footsteps of the Mayflower Pilgrims, who are considered the founding fathers and mothers of the modern-day America.
