Nottingham’s unique mix of independent businesses will be once again showcased and celebrated during the It’s In Nottingham Independents campaign, this year taking place from 1st June to 4th July with various activities and events taking place across the city centre.

With its grand pillars, retro signage and dramatic red exterior, 200 year old building of  the Nottingham Arts Theatre has always been an intriguing feature of Hockley’s George Street. A theatre for the past seventy years or so, NAT has seen a multitude of performances take place on its stage, and today the varied programme ranges from touring productions to pantomimes and opera. 

To make the most of your exploration of Nottingham’s city centre, a little venture off the beaten track can lead to unique encounters and rewards. Head up to Derby Road and you'll find great pubs, independent shops, and a few unique spots to explore.

Nottingham was the capital of lace for over 100 years and this heritage still runs through the streets, with the much-loved Lace Market still retaining its name and charm. Lace is still celebrated in Nottingham, with recent events being curated by Nottingham City Museums and Galleries to remind us of the city’s rich heritage, whilst looking forward to its use as a contemporary inspiration locally and across the globe.

Visit Nottinghamshire is proud to have been involved in two seasons of the exciting project that is The Grand Tour, so when the third season came around we were highly anticipating what it had in store.

Nottingham's National Justice Museum gives a fascinating glimpse into the history of crime and punishment, telling the stories of its prisoners and Nottingham throughout the ages.
