It might only be the early days of October but it's the time of year when Christmas starts to rear its head and vital preparations must be made ahead of the festive season. Today, Debbie from Rufford Abbey Country Park shares with us some delicious Christmas news that will have your mouth watering in anticipation of the winter months. It's only October but... we have just had the Christmas menus delivered for the Savile restaurant in Rufford Abbey Country Park. Just looking through the tasty treats on offer is making me dream of cosy nights in front of a log fire, snow falling outside and fairy lights twinkling on the tree. The Savile is hosting a festive evening dinner on Saturday 12th December with a glass of Christmas at Rufford - SavileProwarmed mulled wine on arrival. The Christmas lunch menu (available from 28 Nov – 24 Dec), has homemade carrot and coriander soup or creamy garlic mushrooms with basil oil and ciabatta, for a starter, followed by roast turkey or perhaps you would prefer glazed spiced gammon. Desserts include classic plum pudding and brandy sauce, or blueberry swirl cheesecake with cream. The menu is full of mouth watering choices including a vegetarian option of portobello mushroom, spinach and cranberry wellington. Over in Sherwood Forest, they are having ‘An Evening of Traditional Hog Roasting and Fine Festive Merriment!’ on Saturday 19th December. Pitchers of mulled cider or winter berry punch will be served followed by a carvery of roast pork hog, crackling and cider apple sauce, or roast turkey plus vegetarian dishes too. For dessert you have a choice of sticky toffee pudding, glazed plum tart or blueberry cheesecake. Having eaten your fill you can dance the night away with a Ceilidh band. Both evening events are ticket only and it is advisable to book for the lunch menu too so please ring 01623 822944 to avoid disappointment. So, I know it’s only October, but roll on Christmas!!
