Two days after the release of the latest Robin Hood film, Visit Nottinghamshire were invited to experience the Robin Hood Medieval Banquet; an opportunity to bring the age-old rebel to life once again and witness his medieval ways in a lively evening of drinking, dining and spirited shenanigans.

We’re definitely feeling the Christmas spirit as we approach advent, and there are plenty of events across Nottinghamshire to get you in good cheer as the festive season starts. Throughout December some of our most scenic country houses, castles and ducal estates are transformed with Christmas magic and host some fabulously festive events, including Wollaton Hall, Newstead Abbey, Chatsworth House and Bolsover Castle to name but a few.

Why trudge around the same old shops, looking at the same old stuff, listening to the same old songs in a monotonous procession of consumerism, all in the name of Christmas gift giving? This year, let’s banish the boring and banal in favour of something brilliantly bespoke, support independent designers and makers, and enjoy the experience to boot! Coming up in Nottingham next weekend there’s not one but two brilliant Art and Design fairs to tempt you.   

There’s always something interesting happening at Nottingham Lakeside Arts, the University of Nottingham's unique public arts centre and museum. In addition to an eclectic programme of music, dance, theatre and family events, their free to enter museum and gallery host varied visual art shows and special collections. We took a trip over to find out more about their latest exhibition.

Castle Rock Brewery certainly have plenty to celebrate this month. Not only did they win the Sustainable Tourism Award at the Nottinghamshire Hospitality STARS Awards, but the Canalhouse scooped the prestigious Tourism Pub of the Year Award. We can’t resist dropping by for a chat; the Sustainable Tourism Award is arguably the most important of all and we’re intrigued to know how they did it.
