Forest Live is a three-day, outdoor festival based in the woodland heart of the county – Sherwood Pines, showcasing some of the best singers and performers out there.

With the weather being very kind to us this year, the festival was a perfect choice for a day out with friends and family. We were thrilled to be a part of it and see Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott as well as UB40 featuring Ali, Astro and Mickey.

What better way to spend one of our sunny days during this summer’s heatwave than at Robin Hood's Wheelgate Park in north Nottinghamshire. Like little keen beans, my children and I headed over to be there for the doors opening at 10am to make the most of the day.

It may not be the medieval fortress one might expect, but set high on its craggy clifftop, Nottingham Castle is certainly a grand sight. While we're all eager to find out what has taken place at our beloved Nottingham Castle and are ready to explore the castle grounds, there’s still so much more to see in the city!  - below we’ve put together some alternative ideas of where to get a taste of the wonderful caves, history, art and nature in Nottingham.

So, we know how beer is made right? Hops, yeast, water…beyond that my own knowledge is pretty sketchy. Well, the good folk over at Brewhouse & Kitchen (B&K) on Trent Bridge can turn you from novice to master brewer (kind of) in just one day!

It’s fair to say that Nottingham city centre’s compact nature can sometimes mean we’re all guilty of staying within a short radius of Old Market Square, but for the more adventurous, there’s plenty of interesting places to visit but a stone’s throw away.

Twenty-eight-year-old Tom Voyce is a local artist who was named Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year in 2017. His current exhibition at Nottingham’s Fletcher Gate Art Gallery features past and recent works in his distinctive colourful, abstract style, with pieces available to view or buy until Thursday 28th June 2018.
