Nottingham has a long history of ice skating, with people practicing their skills first on the frozen River Trent and then for over 60 years at the old Nottingham Ice Stadium. The stadium was demolished in the year 2000 to be replaced with state-of-the-art National Ice Centre - the first twin Olympic-sized ice rink facility in the UK.

We knew a small amount about D.H. Lawrence before visiting his birthplace museum in Eastwood. Upon leaving, we felt like we had lived alongside him in the town, and that was all down to our tour guide Carolyn.

Within 5 minutes of leaving the A1 near Retford, you can be enjoying AA Rosette dining in the former 17th century coaching Ye Olde Bell Inn, which has welcomed an eclectic mix of visitors over the years, including Queen Victoria and One Direction!

With its grand pillars, retro signage and dramatic red exterior, 200 year old building of  the Nottingham Arts Theatre has always been an intriguing feature of Hockley’s George Street. A theatre for the past seventy years or so, NAT has seen a multitude of performances take place on its stage, and today the varied programme ranges from touring productions to pantomimes and opera. 

Robin Hood is truly one of Nottingham's legendary heroes. He has originally been depicted in English folklore and subsequently featured in literature and film. Robin Hood has made an appearance on the big screen many times throughout the years and we’ve asked Bob White, chairman of the Worldwide Robin Hood Society to take a look back at Robin Hood films and television series of the past.
