We’re definitely feeling the Christmas spirit as we approach advent, and there are plenty of events across Nottinghamshire to get you in good cheer as the festive season starts. Throughout December some of our most scenic country houses, castles and ducal estates are transformed with Christmas magic and host some fabulously festive events, including Wollaton Hall, Newstead Abbey, Chatsworth House and Bolsover Castle to name but a few.

Why trudge around the same old shops, looking at the same old stuff, listening to the same old songs in a monotonous procession of consumerism, all in the name of Christmas gift giving? This year, let’s banish the boring and banal in favour of something brilliantly bespoke, support independent designers and makers, and enjoy the experience to boot! For the past decade, the good people behind Nottingham Comedy Festival have been championing our comedy scene with a fantastic festival showcasing local talent, as well as bringing some incredible acts into the city. We took a trip to The Canalhouse for a special edition of their renowned £1 comedy night to launch Nottingham Comedy Festival 2018, alongside some very special guests indeed.
